Breakaway Speed Training (BST) programs
are available in both the summer and the fall. 2008-2009 2nd year Squirt through
college players are eligible to participate. BST is for dedicated female
and male hockey players who are willing to train toward a successful upcoming
season. BST coaches will help motivate players to give a maximum effort
each session.
BST Improvement Goals
- Speed, cornering acceleration, explosive
starts
- Quickness, agility, and balance
- Leg strength development
- Cardiovascular endurance
- Stick skills at top skating speed
- Reading and reacting at top skating
speed
- Intensity
- Confidence
Session Content
- 35-40 minutes of "uncomfortably fast"
interval overspeed skating with pucks
- 35-40 minutes of high-tempo, competitive and modified
scrimmage skills performed at high intensity
